New Studio Now Open

I moved into my new studio in March, 2011. I'm still getting things set-up, but am now painting there most of the time.

Sale of O'Brien Paintings Helps Raise Funds

Three paintings of mine were sold in October of 2010 to help raise funds for the North Alabama Land Trust. These are oil paintings about Berry Mountain, property owned by The Land Trust. The auction was held at a private residence on Monte Sano, in Huntsville. Many patrons and artists attended the showing and party.

Group Show at Dragonfly Gallery, Fayetteville, Tennessee

If you have the chance, visit the gallery. It's on the southwest corner of the square, at the intersection of Main and Market. The show is up starting in May, '10, featuring the work of 18 painters. It'll be up through most of the summer.

Monte Sano Arts Festival, 2009

Once again, I exhibited at the Monte Sano Arts Festival this year in September. Despite the wet, rainy weather there was a fairly good crowd. It was well worth the effort to be part of the show. Here's a photo of the view I would have had if the weather had been a sunny day.

Three paintings of mine were sold recently to help raise funds for the North Alabama Land Trust. These are oil paintings about Blevin's Gap and Mathews Farm, properties owned by The Land Trust. Huntsville Museum of Art Painting Workshop

I think the two-day plus painting workshop at The Huntsville Museum of Art in September was good.
The workshop was booked to capacity, and we all had a great time painting, scraping, painting, wiping-out, more painting, and learning a lot.

Plein Air Painting

The strange-looking guy at the easel is me. I've been doing some plein air painting to help
raise funds for the North Alabama Land Trust. An auction will be held later this Autumn.

Works on Display at HMA

Several of my paintings are on display and available for purchase in the sales gallery of The Huntsville Museum of Art.

Sale of O'Brien Paintings Helps Raise Funds

Two of my paintings were sold recently to help raise funds for the North Alabama Land Trust. Both were oil paintings about land owned by the Land Trust: the Bradley Creek and the Berry Mountain properties. The event was held atop Monte Sano, in Huntsville. Many patrons and artists attended the showing and party. The paintings can be viewed larger by clicking on the pictures.

Monte Sano Arts Festival

I was honored to be "Featured Artist" for the 2008 Monte Sano Arts Festival in North Alabama, which took place on the weekend of September 20, 2008. The Festival is staged every autumn on Monte Sano, and is attended by thousands.

Workshops Given by Conor O'Brien

In January and February of 2008, I gave painting workshops for adults as part of the education program of The Huntsville Museum of Art. Attendence was very good, with the studio being filled to capacity for each workshop. I appreciate being invited by the museum to do this and have the opportunity to meet all the people who attended.

Paintings by Conor O'Brien Shown

The Huntsville Museum of Art has mounted a show of my paintings which will be on view for the months of November, 2007, through February, 2008. The show, entitled "Encounters", includes approximately 25 paintings. The opening was attended by several hundred people. I did a "gallery walk", talking about the paintings and answering questions.

Museum Purchases O'Brien Painting

I am pleased, and honored, that The Huntsville Museum of Art has purchased one of my paintings for inclusion in their permanent collection. This is a somewhat experimental piece which is painted on a 12"x48" prepared fibrous cement panel.
